A colourful workshop with Mussa
the experience

I was walking slowly through Bububu, my village, when I stumbled upon a small house that felt like an artist's secret corner. Inside I met Mussa, a calm, gentle man whose warm smile put me at ease, and his colourful, luminous workshop.
Step by step he showed me the art of batik: sketching on cloth, tracing the lines with wax, then stirring the pigments and dipping, drying and dipping again. After two hours my fabric emerged vibrant and one-of-a-kind. Mussa is also a teacher - he trains women and street children in his craft, giving them skills that can become a livelihood.
Choose your workshop: batik dyeing or soap-making
Batik: draw with melted wax and a copper tjanting pen, then dip into bright dyes
Soap: mix coconut oil with local herbs and spices into your own soap
Leave with your own handmade creation
Optional: a homemade Swahili lunch with Mama Frazo
What you'll do

Mussa uses his art to help street children and women in vulnerable situations become financially independent - your workshop supports that work directly.
